I am a Dallas Relocation Realtor who helps lots of folks moving here from out of town. Usually, I help them buy a home. One of the questions I get asked often from relocation clients is, “what grocery stores are available in Dallas?” Rest assured that Dallas has a fantastic grocery offering in addition to being a city known for catering to many common dietary restrictions.

Central Market

The H-E-B company has a high-end grocer, Central Market. Think of Central Market as H-E-B’s version of Whole Foods. With premium meat, produce and grab-and-go options, it’s a good option if you’re willing to spend a bit more money for higher quality.

Tom Thumb

Tom Thumb is a chain of supermarkets in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. It operate under the names Tom Thumb—traditional grocery stores; Flagship Tom Thumb stores are high end grocery stores, usually in affluent areas. Tom Thumb offers quality groceries along with its sister chains Albertsons and Market Street,

Krogers

Kroger’s grocery stores are what the company is most known for. Kroger is part of 2,800 grocery stores in 35 states owned by the parent company. These stores comprise more than 24 chains, including Kroger, Ralphs, Dillons, Smith’s, King Soopers, City Market, Fry’s, QFC, and Harris Teeter. Some of these grocery stores also contain fueling stations, and others are combination food and drug stores, which contain pharmacies.

Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s is a recent-ish addition to the Dallas grocery scene. For those not familiar with Trader Joe’s, it’s a national grocery chain that sells and stocks mostly private label, natural products at low prices. While Trader Joe’s has multiple stores around Dallas, its convenient location in Inwood Village on Lovers Lane has become a go-to option for many living in University Park area.

Whole Foods

With the recent news of Amazon buying Whole Foods, you may have learned that Whole Foods is actually headquartered in Dallas. Their flagship store is nestled in the heart of bustling Uptown Dallas at the corner of McKinney and Routh. and has an impressive offering: everything from a sushi bar, multiple ready-to-go hot offerings and a BBQ counter. The store is also well-known as a meeting spot for health & fitness minded Dallas residents.

Sprouts
